The famous temple Kalighat Kali Temple dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Kali is situated in Kalighat. This is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas of India. It is a very famous & powerful temple, and a renowned pilgrim place for the Shaktas (Worshippers of Hindu Goddess Durga / Kali / Shakti ) of  Hindu Religion . Kalighat was a Ghat sacred to Mother Goddess Kali , on the old course of the River Ganges in the city of Kolkata.  The river over a period of time, has moved away from the temple.
